Formerly a top fashion model, almost 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of high-end American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent scientist and was awarded the title of Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was a frequent traveler due to her father's work. In her college years, she began to model for a small amount of time and was able to attract the attention from Ford model Agency representatives in New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris before returning back to New York. Her modeling and college career took off and she appeared on Vogue's, Glamour's, and many other magazine covers. While modeling, she also went to New York University full-time to obtain a degree in literature. She became more interested in acting, and began training in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. Her acting debut was a role in the film with Robin Williams in the 1986 film "Club Paradise. She enjoys ski, wind surfing and rock climbing. She also enjoys white water river rafting.
