AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is a striker and captains for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 to 2020. After graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club and helped the team win their league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and was the youngest member of the national team for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final against Canada. She ended 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. It made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
